Monitoring SLEEP & Recovery

More and more research is supporting the importance of SLEEP QUALITY for daily performance/wellness/and pain reduction, as well as, linking HEART RATE VARIABLITY (HRV) to how well your body can perform, adapt, and remain resilient to injuries.

As well, research has shown:

  • we are not great at self-reporting our sleep

  • the majority of us are not getting adequate sleep

  • a downward trend in HRV can lead to health issues, injuries

  • HRV is a trend that you can monitor PROACTIVELY to help mitigate injuries

There are various wearable technologies on the market to help you to monitor these two variables with objective data to monitor workload/body stress, recovery, and physical readiness.

Keep in mind that some devices are developed and created to monitor strain, HRV, and sleep while others are designed primarily to monitor other variables such as GPS navigation, or heart rate (not HRV). Depending on your personal goals, you may consider using multiple technology devices to get accurate results in each category. Unfortunately, THERE IS NO SWISS ARMY KNIFE OF WEARABLES!! Here is a list of the best devices for the different types of monitoring you may be looking for:
